The Grove
How many structural engineering firms can say that they designed the tallest building in town as their very first project? The Grove was A. G. Freiman & Associates' first project. The nine story Grove, located at 1020 Grove in Evanston, was at the time, Evanston's tallest building. |

Above left: Ground floor slab. The ground floor is concrete flat slab with capitols and drop panels for full area underground parking extending to the lot lines. Outdoor ground level parking at rear of the building covers part of this area. The building is above the remaining portion. Above right: Rear elevation. The floors above the ground floor are of concrete flat plate construction. Notice three floors of shoring to prevent collapse of a fresh concrete pour.
